Peggy Lyons Memorialized As Paul Harris Fellow

The Rotary Club of Tryon has a long history of recognizing family members, close friends and community leaders as Honorary Paul Harris Fellows for their contributions in exemplifying Rotary’s Motto of Service Above Self.

Don Lyons has been a member of the Rotary Club of Tryon since 2005. With the support of his lovely wife Peggy, Don has served as the Club’s President, Sergeant at Arms, New Member Orientation Chair and Rotary Foundation Chair. Don had planned to recognize Peggy’s contribution to Rotary with an Honorary Paul Harris Fellowship award at her upcoming birthday, but she lost her battle with cancer before her birthday arrived.

Rotarian Don Lyons receives an Honorary Paul Harris Fellow recognizing the contributions of his late wife Peggy Lyons. Rotarian Art Brown presented the award.

Don recently made a contribution to the Rotary Foundation as a memorial to Peggy’s joyous service to Rotary and her many other gifts to our community. The Rotary Club of Tryon is proud to recognize Peggy Lyons as an Honorary Paul Harris Fellow. Both Peggy and Don have lived a life of Service Above Self for their community.

When Rotarians are awarded a Paul Harris Fellow, it recognizes the significant contributions they have made to the Rotary Foundation. As Rotarians we are fortunate to have the Rotary Foundation as a vehicle to help fund projects that prevent disease, provide clean water, create jobs and improve health around the world.
