Reading is Fundamental at Polk Central Elementary

The Rotary Club of Tryon hosted their first Reading is Fundamental (RIF) book distribution at Polk Central Elementary last week. Rotarians purchase and distribute enough books to allow each student to take home three new books a year. If students stays at Polk Central from Preschool through fifth grade, they will have a home library of 21 books!

Polk Central Elementary Principal Jan Crump said “our student are always excited about RIF day. For some of our students, these are the only books they have of their very own.” The Rotarians are also excited about RIF day because they get a chance to read with the students and share their love for good stories with each class.

The Rotarians will be back at Polk Central Elementary for a winter and a spring distribution.
