The Tryon Rotarians took a trip back in time last week to when trains still ran between Saluda and Tryon. David O’Brien, volunteer and board member with the Saluda Historic Depot, introduced the Rotarians to the 120 year history of the “Historic Saluda Depot and Running the Grade”.
During the presentation, David invited the Rotarians to visit the Saluda Historic Depot and to learn about the famous “Saluda Grade”, the steepest, mainline, standard gauge railroad in the country.
If you would like to learn more about the Saluda Historic Depot, the Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday 10:30am to 5pm, Sunday 1pm to 4pm and some holidays. Or you can visit their website at: http://www.saludahistoricdepot.com/
