The Rotary Satellite Club of Tryon – TE had the privilege of receiving a complete overview of Hospice of Carolina Foothills history and humanitarian services by it’s President Rita Burch at it’s January 21st meeting at Tryon Estates.
First established in 1982 to help assist people facing end-of-life care needs, the organization has expanded to service Polk, Henderson, Rutherford and McDowell counties. It is rated as one of the top three hospices in North Carolina offering crisis care. While normally thought of as a program for the elderly, it is available to all patients regardless of age with a prognosis of six months or less according to the primary doctor and is covered by Medicare, Medicaid and most insurance.
More detailed information regarding the program may be obtained by contacting them at (800) 218-CARE (2273) or at www.hocf.org.
