TDDA’s Henderson Shares Vision With Rotary

The Rotary Club of Tryon started 2021 with an online club meeting on January 7th.  After the long break for the holidays, it was good to see all of the Club members again.  Even if it was just virtually……

After some club business, Paige Henderson was introduced as our Guest Speaker.  Paige is the new Executive Director for the Tryon Downtown Development Association.

2020 Candy Cruise

During her presentation, Paige mentioned she has had a connection to the areas for many years.  She grew up on a Christmas tree farm in the mountains of Avery County, where she competed in sports with Polk County students.  This new job gave her an opportunity to move to the beautiful Tryon area.

Paige is a graduate of Appalachian State University and is excited to be working in Tryon.  The TDDA has a history of working to improve the downtown area and supporting the businesses that make Tryon their home.  Paige hopes to continue the programs that have worked well and introduce some new ideas to keep the town interesting for visitors and residents.   In her new role, Paige will be focusing on the following areas: Livability, Equestrian Heritage, Arts and Culture.

2020 Beer Fest

During her presentation, Paige mentioned the impact of COVID on the events planned by TDDA.  Some events had to be cancelled while others had to be adjusted.  She praised the work of the organizers and volunteers of the Tryon Beer Fest.  COVID forced changes to the event, but they were still able to make it a success.
