Rotary Foundation Support

The mission of the Rotary Foundation is to support the efforts of Rotary International to achieve world understanding and peace through international humanitarian, educational and cultural exchange programs.

The humanitarian programs include Matching Grants, Health, Hunger and Humanity (3H) Grants, the Polio Plus Program, Grants for Rotary Volunteers, Discovery Grants and the Rotary Peace Programs. The educational programs include Rotary Grants for University Teachers to Serve in Developing Countries and Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarships. The cultural exchange program is Group Study Exchange.

The Rotary Foundation is supported  solely by  voluntary contributions from Rotarians and friends of the Foundation who share its vision of a better world.  Annual giving is the cornerstone of the Foundation’s funding efforts. Every Rotarian is encouraged to contribute $100 per year to the Rotary Foundation and become designated a Sustaining Member. Each club strives to have 100% of its members contribute at some level.  Rotarians who are sustaining members for 10 years or who have contributed $1,000, are recognized as Paul Harris Fellows. Contributions made in this way are usually made to the Annual Programs Fund of the Foundation. The RI “Share Program” insures that a portion of these funds is dedicated to support activities within the Rotary District.

The Foundation Permanent Fund is the true endowment of Rotary International. Contributions from any source (e.g. wills beneficiaries, investments, etc.) are invested and the corpus is never spent. A portion of annual appreciation is funneled into annual  programs.  PolioPlus has been one of Rotary’s success stories despite the elusive goal of TOTAL eradication. We know the end is near but the going is extremely difficult. The Rotary Foundation appreciates the support of PolioPlus offered by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
