Community Service

“Reading is Fundamental”  (RIF) is a program that gives books to students in the elementary grades to encourage and demonstrate the joy of reading.

This Avenue” – relates to the activities that Rotarians undertake to improve the quality of life in their community.  Particular emphasis is given to helping children, needy families, the aged, the handicapped, and those most in need of assistance.  Rotarians strive to promote the ideal of service in their personal, business, and community lives.


Maintain contacts with Tryon civic leaders and the local organizations pursuing civic improvements.

Develop projects which will improve living conditions in the Tryon community.

Promote recognition in the Tryon community of the benefits created by Rotary Club of  Tryon.


Pursue regular cleanups of the Adopt-A-Highway segments of Highway 176 assigned to our club.

Coordinate with Town of Tryon for the timely cleanups of other community areas.

Find and pursue other opportunities for our club to contribute to improving the local environment.


Organize R I F programs among the early grade students at Polk County Schools.

Choose the books to buy and to encourage students to read.

Coordinate with our club and with the RCOT Foundation the budgeting and expenditures of the RIF funds.
