The Rotary Club of Tryon has been busy this week. Rotarians, Past Rotarians, and Friends of Rotary spent Monday packing care packages for the Firefighters in our community.
The project was organized by Rotarian Judy Lair as a way to recognize the 242 men and women serving as firefighters in Polk County and Landrum. The firefighters in 7 different stations received Goody Bags with useful items as a token of appreciation for their 24/7 service (made even more hazardous due to the Covid 19 pandemic).
Friends of Rotary who wanted to make an impact in their community included the Baughman children, and mother Caroline, who put “Thank You” stickers on 250 bags of popcorn.
Friends of Rotary Frances Wray and Gail Muir helped with packing the bags and Jen Dickenson delivered Goody Bags to the Saluda Fire Department.
Not only were Rotary Club of Tryon members involved in the recognition, but also local businesses made contributions: Parsec in Tryon, Food Lion in Columbus, St. Luke’s Hospital and St. Luke’s Hospital Foundation in Columbus, Edward Jones in Landrum and Columbus and Tryon Estates in Columbus.
Look around. There are many in our Foothills Community who have served us well before and especially during this past year. You, too, can say “thank you” — in your own way.
Friends of Rotary from 3 to 86 helped with this project. If you would like to be part of the work Rotary is doing in your community, contact our Club President Skip Taylor at email@example.com or 828-200-9259.
