Rotarians Recognized for Service

The Rotary Club of Tryon is taking advantage of the fact that more and more Rotarians are getting vaccinated each week. The Club decided to have a small number of Rotarians gather in person for this week’s meeting, while the remaining club members participated via Zoom. The Club took this opportunity to celebrate the work done by two Rotarians.

David Cornelius joined the Rotary Club of Tryon in 2004 and has served as the Treasurer for just about as long as anyone can remember. The Club officers have changed many times during his tenure as Treasurer, but David has been a steady hand on the money over all these years. During the award ceremony, President Skip Taylor expressed the Club’s appreciation for the service David has provided to the members.

The second Rotarian to be recognized was Carol Browning. Carol has served as the Treasurer for the Rotary Club of Tryon Foundation for many years. A member since 2009, Carol has shared her financial expertise with the Foundation to support the Club’s philanthropic activities. With her guidance, the Foundation is able to grant $30,000-$60,000 annually to community organizations and high school scholarship recipients. In presenting the award, Foundation President Charles McKeller expressed the Club’s appreciation for all of the work Carol has done for the Rotary Club of Tryon and many other organizations in our community.

Rotarians Carol Browning and David Cornelius are living examples of what is means to provide Service Above Self. As they pass their roles onto other members, the Rotary Club of Tryon thanks Carol and David for all they have done for the Club and Rotary International.
