Allan Purtill – Rotarian of the Year

Rotarian of the Year Allan Purtill and Past Rotary Club President Stacey Lindsey

One of the advantages of being the Past Rotary Club President is that you get to present the Rotarian of the Year award. This year, Past Rotary Club President Stacey Lindsey had the pleasure of naming Rotarian Allan Purtill as the Rotary Club of Tryon 2020-2021 Rotarian of the Year. Congratulations Allan!

The Reverend Dr. Allan Purtill is the “new” pastor of the Tryon Presbyterian Church. Since the Rotary Club of Tryon meets in the parish hall of his church, he also quickly became a member of the Club. Allan is an active participant in his community where he shares his talents with many local organizations including Thermal Belt Outreach Ministry.

Allan was instrumental in helping the club transition to online meetings during the pandemic. While Allan was learning to do church online he shared these new skills with the Club. The Rotary Club of Tryon was one of the first clubs in our District to begin meeting via Zoom because of Allan’s assistance.

If you would like to work with Allan to improve our community, consider joining the Rotary Club of Tryon. For more information, contact the Club’s President, Skip Taylor at stmas4280@gmail.com or 828-200-9259.
