At the December 5th meeting of the Rotary Club of Tryon, the guest speaker was Carolyn Roff Henry who spoke of her experiences as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar. Carolyn, who is from Tryon, applied for the Ambassadorial Scholarship at the urging of the late Dr. Wray Monroe who was a member of the local Rotary Club. The scholarship provides the recipient an opportunity to live and study abroad which in turn helps to promote international peace and friendly relations. Since 1947 more than 30,000 men and women from 100 nations have studied abroad under its auspices. In her presentation, Carolyn shared her many valuable experiences and opportunities to make new friends while studying in New Zealand.
She is pictured in the center with her husband, Tracy, and Rotarian Carole Bartol who arranged the program.
