The Rotary Club of Tryon was honored to have Lyndon Harris as the guest speaker at last week’s meeting. In April of 2001, Lyndon began his work as the Episcopal Priest in Charge of Community Outreach at St. Paul’s Chapel, in New York City. On September 12th of that same year, he began to organize what became a multi-faith relief center offering food, massage therapy, grief counseling, chiropractic and podiatric care for the first responders at ground zero. Even though it was build in 1776 and sat directly across the street from the World Trade Center towers, St. Paul’s Chapel survived “because God still had work for it to do”.
After his presentation, Lyndon was answering questions when one of the Rotarians said, “In the 30 years that I have been a Rotarian, I have never heard a more inspirational message. Thank you for the work you started on September 12th and the work you are doing now to share your story.”
