Rev. Judith Long and Jada Scruggs from Polk County’s The Free Clinics were speakers at recent meeting of the Rotary Club of Tryon. This was the second in a series of presentations where community leaders share an update on what is happening in our community. The Free Clinics works with community partners to ensure that all people have access to medical services, prescriptions and specialty care.
The Free Clinics started serving Polk County residents in 2008. In 2020, The Free Clinics opened a care facility in the Feagan Building in Columbus. Last year, the Polk County Free Clinics provided health assistance for over 300 patients who received medial services or specially care valued at over $1,200,000.
The Free Clinics is very dependent on volunteers and community partners to provide services to patients. In Polk County, these partners include: St. Luke’s Hospital, Polk County DSS, Thermal Belt Outreach Ministry, St. Luke’s Pharmacy, Polk County Transportation and individual community members.
