The Community Chorus, in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Tryon, delivered their “Remembering Decembers” concert on December 15th. A crowd of almost 300 gathered at Polk County High School to hear the singers share their love of Christmas through song.
This year’s concert was directed by Dell Morgan with Pam McNeil accompanying on the piano. Supporting the Chorus were Barb Tilley on Flute, Camila Menendez on Cello and Ed Harrelson as the Narrator.
The Community Chorus dedicated this year’s concert to the memory of Dr. Mark Schweizer, who sang with the chorus and directed the 2011 & 2012 Spring and Christmas Concerts. Mark was a big man with an equally big and warm personality and musical talent.
To round out the performance, the singers were joined by Seth Carson on Trumpet, Hank Sibley on Trombone, Alex Tapp on Percussions, Elizabeth Gardner & Laura Spinks on Guitar, and Linda Lee Reynolds on Upright Bass. The chorus members and instrumentalists took the audience back in time to Decembers to remember.
The money raised through ticket sales for the performance is dedicated to the Rotary Club of Tryon’s Scholarship Fund. The Community Chorus depends entirely on the contributions of Supporting Members for music purchases, royalties, professional music leadership and instrumentalists, advertising and office expenses. Please consider donating to the Community Chorus to help defer these costs. www.carolinacommunitychorus.org
