Rotary Scholarship Recipients @ PCEC

At last week’s meeting, the Rotary Club of Tryon was proud to recognize the Polk County Early College graduates who received Rotary Scholarships to help with their college education.

The 2019 scholarship recipients are: Antonio Garcia, Brittany Bradley, Stephanie Serrano, and Makayla Lail. Ms. Lail was the recipient of a special scholarship named in honor of Rotarian Frank Ortiz. The Ortiz scholarship is awarded to the student who most exemplifies the ideals of the Rotary Four-Way Test.

Rotary Four-Way Test:
Of the things we think, say or do:
1) Is it the truth?
2) Is it fair to all concerned?
3) Will it build good will and better friendships?
4) Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

The students will be attending colleges across the state with most of them choosing to study some form of Computer Engineering. The Rotary Club of Tryon is proud to help these students further their education and encouraged the recipients to remember the Rotary motto of “Service above Self”.

The Rotary Club of Tryon meets Thursday at noon in the Tryon Presbyterian Church. If you are interested in joining the Club, please contact President Stacey Lindsay at: 864-360-6170 or
